this website<\/a> for\u00a0an interesting look at the history of sangria.<\/p>\nTo get back to my lunchroom oasis, I ran across a recipe in a\u00a0magazine for sangria; prep time is 15 minutes followed by a chill time of 4 hours (better yet to let it sit overnight). \u00a0I thought I’d share it & document as I do my favorite recipes here:<\/p>\n
Ingredients:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n- 2 Apples, 1 cored &\u00a0chopped.<\/li>\n
- 2 Oranges, 1 sliced in quarters.<\/li>\n
- 1 Lemon, quartered.<\/li>\n
- 1 Lime, quartered.<\/li>\n
- 2 slices ginger (about a quarter sized each).<\/li>\n
- 3 cloves, whole.<\/li>\n
- 1\/4 cup honey.<\/li>\n
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon<\/li>\n
- 2 tbsp sugar<\/li>\n
- Ice<\/li>\n
- Club soda<\/li>\n
- 1 bottle (750ml) chardonnay (grape juice for non-alcohol version).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Instructions:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Mix the bottle of wine and honey in a large bowl.<\/li>\n
- Mix in\u00a0the cored & chopped apple, the quartered orange, lemon, lime, cinnamon sticks, ginger, and cloves. \u00a0Refrigerate over night (4 hours minimum).<\/li>\n
- Strain this concocted goodness into a pitcher. \u00a0Core and chop the remaining apple & slice the remaining orange. Throw these in the pitcher.<\/li>\n
- Using a small plate; blend the sugar and cinnamon together. \u00a0Moisten the rims of your wine glasses. \u00a0Dip the wine glasses in the mixture to coat them with sugar and cinnamon.<\/li>\n
- Put some ice in your wine glass, pour the concocted goodness into your glass, filling the glass about 3\/4 of the way full. \u00a0Add a splash of club soda and spoon in some fruits.<\/li>\n
