We stayed here over Christmas, 2010.<\/p>\n
This was a grand vacation (family reunion). We used three years\u2019 worth of timeshare time for this one visit. The staff of Tahiti Village (TVV) was very accommodating with us making these reservations.<\/p>\n
Units:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n We rented 2 units: a Royal Tahitian (handicap) & Morea.<\/p>\n Units were in very good shape. We had two handicapped rooms, so they were a little different layout, with lowered counter-tops. Units were nicely furnished with all you really need. The units were well stocked, and were real nice. There were no additional cooking ware needed, and there were plenty of cups, dishes and the like. The units were very clean and in good repair (see comment below).<\/p>\n – When first entering the unit, we had a couple of very minor problems which the staff corrected right away. The oven door wouldn’t close (5 minute fix) and the patio door didn’t close properly (2 minute fix). Both maintenance crew and front desk were very responsive when we reported the problems.<\/p>\n – Not enough waste baskets, there were two in each unit, the kitchen area and the bathroom, but none in the bedrooms.<\/p>\n Resort:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n There were planned activities, we took advantage of one, the trip to Fremont Street, and that was a lot of fun. If you are there when that trip goes (I think on Tuesdays) you should go, it is free transportation, and it is a really fun part of town. There were also lots of activities for kids, but since our youngest is 21, we didn’t participate. The Activities room had a pool table and Foosball table, and board games. We saw people BBQ’ing and also swimming, using the lazy river and the whirlpool.<\/p>\n – Check in was no problem, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had to contact housekeeping several times for various items (toilet paper, broom, garbage bags, towels). The housekeeping ladies were very friendly and helpful. There is a complementary mid-week cleaning, which was sorely needed by mid-week.<\/p>\n – the concierge staff was very nice, and she photographed our group in front of the christmas tree in the main lobby, even as we held up the TUG banner!<\/p>\n There is a free shuttle service up and down the strip every 1\/2 hour, it drops people off at NY-NY and Mirage. It also visits Tahiti and I think Club De Sol (the other CRI properties). TVV is very convenient to the airport, although TVV itself doesn’t have a shuttle service to the airport, there are a couple of companies you can call and they’ll pick you up for $6 – 9 \/person. A cab will run $15 – 20.<\/p>\n I was a little disappointed by the associated “reservation” fees. $100 deposit while checking in, $40 after being talked into an “owners update” to make sure we’d show, $50 deposit for EACH (I repeat…EACH) Clear connect USB Wireless card. The daily fee is $7\/day unless you do an owners update, which brings the price down to $1\/day.<\/p>\n The resort is relatively quiet and is great for families. There are activities for kids, swimming with an actual beach. I think couples would also like the place. As far as partying, if you’re looking for a wild and crazy place, this isn’t it.<\/p>\n – The grounds were very well maintained, and there is a concrete path that runs throughout the property, my mother had no problems getting around in her walker around the grounds, which she enjoyed immensely.<\/p>\n – The “Owners Update” was a thinly disguised sales presentation, but they didn’t push too hard, neither their sales staff (CJ was our presenter-very nice) nor the “closers” pushed us hard. They offered us very good sales prices, competitive to those found on TUG-which surprised me; but we were not interested. And for our (less than 2 hours) time, we received 10 tickets for the Comedy Magic show and $150 off a Brazilian Bistro. Not sure how great of a deal this was, but we felt it was pretty good considering there were 10 of us in our party. They also reduced the price of the internet connection ( a Clear connect USB stick) from $7\/day down to $1\/day.<\/p>\n – Fremont trip- there just wasn’t enough time allocated for that area of town, the trip only gives you like three hours.<\/p>\n – Had to sacrifice a couple of towels to prevent water from entering the rest of the bathroom from the showers. Since these were handicapped rooms, there was no Jacuzzi tub.<\/p>\n – We had to call the front desk to figure out how to call another room. Just FYI, you need to dial 5 and then the room number.<\/p>\n Overall, we enjoy TVV very much, the staff was very helpful and friendly, we’d recommend this place and look forward to staying there again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
