Marriott’s Cypress Harbor – Orlando, FL

Location – Location & Beautiful Location. We stayed here 5 – 12 September, 2009.

Our overall impression of Marriott Cypress Harbour (MCH) was….WOW!! The resort was an easy, short drive off of I-4. The grounds of the resort were impeccably clean. There were two folks working the desk when we checked in, and both were outstanding and made check in a breeze.

Unit:

I believe all units at MCH are the same size, 2BR and 2BA. We went with another couple, and there was plenty of room for both couples to have privacy when desired. The main BR had a huge whirlpool/Jacuzzi style tub in it; we didn’t have time to use it however and it is on our list of things to try when we visit again. When I asked how old the unit was, I was told it was a “mature” property, so I imagine it is over 15 years old. The units are immaculate to say the least.

The unit was clean, with all the expected kitchen utensils provided, although I wish they would provide a non-stick pan (thought for future travels). The unit was in good repair, although the patio door lock was found to be broken upon our initial inspection, we called the front desk and it was fixed before we had even begun unpacking. Security seemed to be good, there was always someone working and improving something. Basic internet connectivity is provided free of charge, and there are work stations in the lobby. As far as premium TV stations, HBO was locked, not sure if it was a Marriott thing, or the previous users; but it didn’t matter to us as we didn’t watch much. There were phone fees if you used their phones for local calls and such. Our unit had a full size washer and dryer in it.

There was an in-room safe for use, free of charge. I didn’t see uniformed security walking around, but there were always resort personnel around working on stuff, and I am sure security was in the mix somewhere, I felt very, very safe there, as did my wife and our friends.

Resort:

There was a fitness center, which we didn’t visit, three pools, a restaurant, playgrounds and a mini-mart all on site. There were daily activities scheduled if you wanted to stay at the resort. But we didn’t partake in any except the Thursday night Hula party; fun.

Disney theme parks were only about 10 minutes away. Sea World was right across the access road, maybe a minute or two by car. Alcohol could be purchased at the mini-mart, and it wasn’t too overpriced. The lobby had tons of information on things to do, and had people dedicated to help you find things to do.

We are not MVCI owners. We stayed at MCH using a bonus certificate through II. Since we were not owners we were asked if we’d like to participate in a sales presentation, and for a cash reward we were bought – but it payed for our gifts to even make the trip more economical. After staying at this property I may be openly looking to purchase here; we really, really liked the place.
