If you break it, you buy it.

Everyone has seen those signs in nicknack stores, if you break it – you buy it.  We have used this motto in Germany, Italy, Japan, Iraq, and Afghanistan.  Why is it different for our own country?  As my faithful follower (and cat) already know, my daughter was home over the past week and we had the chance to talk, it’s not that we don’t talk, it is just special when we can sit across from each other and exchange ideas; but I digress.

My daughter is involved with the “Occupy Wall Street” folks up in the great commode of  American society known as New York City.  It is exciting to see her take a stand (although I may not fully understand the details of what is going on).  She has tried to explain to me what it is all about up there, that there are several activist groups protesting different things, and the news attaches themselves to the nut jobs.  You’ll never see my daughter on an interview, she’s not that type of person, she’d rather be in the background doing her thing and trying to better society, because my generation  did a pretty good job of trashing it, leaving it to the next generation(s) to fix our mess. She brought me one of those local newspapers that they are producing up there, the “Occupied” Wall Street Journal – it is pretty interesting, and challenges some of my views, and that’s a good thing from my perspective.

From my very limited understanding, the “occupation” as I’ll call it, is meant to show that business is running the government, and not the people.  That the government listens to lobbyists more than it’s citizens, and since “wall street” pays tons of money to lobbyists and Corporate CEO’s (I’ll address this in a rant tomorrow, I promise.), it was a good place to start the protest.

An event happened here locally that dramatically stained their cause, at least locally.  Our local news talk station has a great morning DJ, Tony, and he interviewed this clown named “Matt” on the radio yesterday (10/12/2011).  Tony is a good interviewer, and heaven help the man who is not prepared for an interview, this guy came across as a complete moron.  Now Tony is a libertarian, but you have to have facts to back up your statements, and “Matt” was not prepared at all.  My issue isn’t with Matt, it is with whoever scheduled him for this radio interview, what the hell were the organizers (or whoever scheduled him, if there was someone) thinking when they put this clown on.  Matt, put down the ganja and talk with conviction, consistency, be concise; but most of all, have some fricken facts!  Whoever scheduled this idiot should be fired – wait, you can’t fire volunteers. It pains me to see such an idiot stain something my daughter believes in.

I am very proud of my daughter for taking a stand for something she believes in, even if she is dealing with morons.  She is like a Weeping Willow tree; sucking up moisture (knowledge)  and trying her best to do what is right.  I applaud her for that, I may not understand sometimes…but I stand beside her.  I want the same thing as her….

We would like to fix what is obviously broken.

We The People....Not we the Lobbyists

I’d like to find out how others feel..

Well said. Perhaps the “silent majority” offspring will seek the corrective action to do away with lobby and Pack organizations; also, demand our representatives start representing their constituents instead of their self interest and self promotion.
