Happy Thanksgiving everyone, especially my loyal reader. He will be getting special cat treat today, as the rest of us pound down a bunch of amino acid tryptophan laden turkey. As is my custom on Thanksgiving Day, I’ll say the blessing at this important meal. And as has become the tradition of the good DR, I’ll post my prayer…
In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit:
+ Lord, on this day of plenty; let us take a moment and thank you for our blessings: our family & friends, health, and especially our freedom.
+ Provide us each with the wisdom to know what is right, and the courage to act on it. May our words and actions flow with peace, friendship, and love. May we live up to your model and wish peace and prosperity for everyone we meet.
+ Bless those less fortunate than ourselves, that on this day of plenty all will have a meal to eat.
+ Give our leaders the insight to perform their duties with the county’s needs in mind; and not to squander the lives of those entrusted to protect it.
+ Finally, Let us not take one another for granted; for it is in our friends and family we find our sanctuary and peace. So let us end our prayer with our customary Grace: Bless us O Lord and these thy gifts, which we are about to receive from thy bounty, through Christ, Our Lord; Amen.
With all the fuss over the recent election, I thought it might be good to add a request to the great Kahuna to help us live the model. So my friends, look out for one another; because when push comes to shove, all we have is each other.
