Great location in Newport! We stayed here 30 September – 7 October, 2011
Convenience to Area Attractions: This is THE reason to stay here. I’m not sure if the Wyndham is closer, but this is centrally located on America’s Cup and Thames…perfect location. The resort is located right on the main tourist drive, on the bay. You couldn’t ask for a better location.
This particular vacation will always be special to me – it was a vacation setup for my mother to see the change of trees in New England during the fall. She passed shortly after this trip due to cancer; so these memories are very special. I will not post any pictures of this vacation except one – a yellow rose for my mother.
Unit:
We had a one Bedroom on the third floor. Smaller than other places we have stayed; but still very comfortable. If you like a hard bed, this is THE place; as this room had the hardest bed that we have ever encountered. The main room was a little dim, so the lighting could be better, made for a tough time reading the paper. While a 7.5 on the TUG scorecard…This place is a 9 to me personally.
Kitchen Features: It features a kitchenette, so there was nothing to prepare major meals. A little bummer, but we knew that coming into it. The kitchenette has a microwave, coffee maker, toaster, 4 plate settings and a toaster.
Resort:
The property is in good shape; considering the age of the building itself. There were no problems checking in, except for it was a bit crowded in the lobby, the lobby is tight; so check in early. We didn’t use any, so cannot comment. There is a manager’s welcome on Mondays, and morning coffee from 8:00 to 10:00 am. Internet was free (get username & PW from desk), housekeeping every day is nice, and free. Housekeeping staff was very helpful with towels and everything else we needed. This is a great couples/family place.
The staff was very nice; we had no problems for them to respond to 🙂
