Another year has come and gone, it seems like only yesterday when I was posting the Grace for Thanksgiving 2011.
Although our family couldn’t all be present for the meal, it was a wonderful Thanksgiving. As is the custom in our house, I led the prayer on this day. I normally do not lead the Prayer for our family dinner; but Thanksgiving is special. So, without further ado, here is a how Dr. D did this years Thanksgiving prayer:
In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit:
On this day of thanks, let us give thanks for our family and friends; both those that have joined us today, and those that couldn’t make the journey to be with us. Watch over our family and friends that may be in harms’ way. May they be shielded from any harm.
On this day of plenty; may everyone have a full plate to eat.
May our words, and actions, flow with Peace, Friendship and Love. May we wish peace and prosperity for everyone we meet.
In this time of uncertainty; give us solitude and comfort within your care, watch after us, keep us in good health, give us the courage to change the things we can, and the strength to accept those we cannot. Give our leaders the insight to perform their duties, with our country’s needs in mind, and not to squander the lives of those entrusted to protect it.
Bless those less fortunate than ourselves, and keep us in your good graces.
So we end with our customary Grace: Bless us O Lord and these thy gifts, which we are about to receive from they bounty, through Christ, Our Lord; Amen.
I enjoy sharing my prayer each year. I hope you enjoy it, and it means as much to you as it does to me. Even my cat was attentive.
Dad
Nice,simple and meaningful prayer.
