Good morning boys and girls!! I hope everyone has had a very productive past couple of months, I know I have – I have however; been delinquent in keeping my blog up to date, and for that I apologize to my cat (my faithful reader). As you can see, he even wears reading glasses so he never misses an issue, here is reading the most recent issue of my newsletter- “Computing Tips”
Anyway, back to the topic at hand, I had some spam comments; and one of the comments had a quote, but the quote was pretty good, it was by Edward Tufte: “There are only two industries that refer to their customers as ‘users’. Well, you can imagine that this got my attention
A quick google search, and I landed on a blog by Scott Coughlin, I think he is out of Baltimore, MD.
So this got me thinking of our IT folks at work, what are we pushing? Are we pushing or pimping?
- IT folks call thier customers – ‘users’ (guilty as charged)
- IT folks make their customers beg for their services…a little BDSM in us all
- IT folks charge more for the good stuff
He makes some pretty good (albeit funny) points, and the analogy was well done. So I tip my hat to you Mr. Coughlin, job well done.
Hopefully, this will be the little push I needed to get out of my writing slump and get down to business.

Seems like the feline has some interest in your discussion on users. I would agree that we users of IT support do beg which results from a deep frustration level stemming from the problems simplicity when a solution is recognized and pointed out by the IT support person.
